Hola! Soy Beisabel. My pronouns are she/her/ella.
I am so glad you’re here. It takes a huge amount of courage to even begin searching for a therapist. Trust me, I've been there. Being in this journey of healing and self discovery can be scary all on its own, but when you bring someone else in, questions might arise. Will I connect with them? Will they understand my struggles? Will I be judged? These are all valid questions. I may not be the therapist for everyone and that is ok. My only desire is that you get the support you need.
Who am I you ask? Well in my journey of growth and healing, I continue changing. Parts of my identity I hold very dear to my heart, while others come and go. At this very moment I am a bilingual, bicultural, first generation, queer Latina. Outside of my role as a consejera (counselor), I enjoy reading, dancing, and focusing on me. Currently I am on a spiritual journey and learning to be a curandera (traditional healer).
As far as my credentials, I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and an Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional. I obtained my Masters in 2017 at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a concentration in Latinx Mental Health. I also received my bachelors in Psychology at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
I have been in the field of mental health for over 4 years. My main focus has been working with survivors of domestic violence/intimate partner violence in the BIPOC community. It has been my passion for the longest time to spread awareness within the community on healthy relationships, parenting, and generational trauma as well as dismantling the systems that continues to oppress.
My style of counseling is simple. I am here to hold space for you and hear all that you have to say without judgement. My desire after every session is for my clients to go home a bit lighter, brighter, and safer. The power of listening and holding space for others is a great one. When coming from environments where one is told to be silent or hurt if they expressed themselves, it becomes the norm to hide one’s true self or feel insignificant. By providing the space for others to speak, express, and be their true selves we can make way for more healing. I let clients lead the way in their sessions as they are the experts of their own lives.
Not only do I hold space, I also incorporate holistic healing methods like guided meditation, essential oils, herbal burning, mindfulness, body movement, and more.
My space is open for those ready to start their healing journey. As I mentioned previously, I may not be for everyone, but if you are curious to know if we will be a match, I offer a free 15 minute consultation.
